“After the boy had gone, David got up from the south side of the stone and bowed down before Jonathan three times, with his face to the ground. Then they kissed each other and wept together—but David wept the most.
Jonathan said to David, “Go in peace, for we have sworn friendship with each other in the name of the LORD, saying, ‘The LORD is witness between you and me, and between your descendants and my descendants forever.’” Then David left, and Jonathan went back to the town.”
This is a beautiful and heart wrenching moment in the life of David. His best friend’s father was trying to kill him and was going to stop at nothing. Sometimes when we’re faced with challenges so great that our only plausible response is to weep. But then He strengthens us by putting us in relationships that draw us closer to Him. In these relationships we are reminded of His unfailing love by the love we have for one another.
lyrics
We could stay here and wait for dawn
But sometimes the night seems too long
When the crooks of your heart don’t end
Please trust me if you can
Oooo...
We could walk blind hand in hand
Stay intwined if we can
But I see the wonder in your eyes
Now I know why you can’t sleep at night
Stay, don’t go (x4)
Oh, take it slow
Breathe in, breath out
Let it go.
You must know.
That I love you so
Let’s stroll the dark
We might find who we are
We could walk blind hand in hand
Stay intwined if we can
But a thousand forgotten knights
Creep up in your eyes
Stay, don’t go (x4)
Oh, take it slow
Breathe in, breath out
Let it go.
You must know.
That I love you so
Let’s stroll the dark
We might find who we are
You’ll see me standing there,
You don’t always need
A light to see, a light to see (x4)
You’ll see me standing there,
You don’t always need
A light to see me through the dark
